Over Kellet, Lancashire

Lovely little village. It has figured on several LDWA hikes. Frequently looked at the two artefacts which are astride the road. The memorial is very traditional. The inscriptions are beneath the pictures.  The cross in a way is far mor interesting. There seems to be a reference to a cross outside St Cuthbert's church on the internet too.

This is the insert from English Heritage:

SD 57 SW OVER KELLET KELLET ROAD

4/138 Village Cross, On Village Green
4, 10. 1967
GV II

Cross. Age uncertain, restored 1983. Sandstone. Square base of 2 steps
topped by a single square chamfered block with a socket which contains the
cross shaft. Lower section of shaft appears older than the head and upper
shaft, which are of 1893.

Looking down Capenwray road. The road to the right goes to Kirkby Lonsdale
The War Memorial is opposite

Hall Garth is in the background

The UKNIWM Ref is  3298
The war memorial. The broken column is a traditional symbol of a life cut short
On this side of the cross it looks like there are two names.
